Accessories3

The KERN DIS model series is designed as a single-range laboratory balance with an integrated halogen drying module. Weighing is based on the principle of electromagnetic force compensation, ensuring high reproducibility and result stability.
The DIS 50-4 model is intended for very fine analyses with a readability of 0.0001 g, while the DIS 100-3 combines a readability of 0.001 g with a higher maximum capacity of 120 g.

The halogen quartz heater enables precise temperature control in the range of 30 °C to 175 °C with 1 °C increments. Available drying modes include standard, fast, gentle, and step drying, with time-controlled, automatic, or manual switch-off criteria.
DIS models allow determination of moisture (%), dry matter (%), ATRO (%), and absolute weight loss in grams.

The internal memory allows storage of up to 1,000 measurement results and up to 1,000 sample descriptions. Up to 40 drying programs are supported.
The devices are equipped with RS-232 and USB device interfaces for data transfer.

Calibration option

If required, we offer accredited calibration in our own accredited calibration laboratory, including issuance of a calibration certificate.

 Power supply and operation

The devices are powered by 230 V AC / 50 Hz. The halogen heating system ensures rapid temperature ramp-up and uniform drying performance.
Designed for operation in laboratory environments with controlled temperature and humidity.

Display and operation

The backlit graphical LCD display allows real-time visualization of drying curves. Operation is performed in three steps (tare – add sample – start).
The last measured value remains displayed until the next analysis is started.
The device supports multi-tare, password protection, and data storage.

What is the difference between DIS 50-4 and DIS 100-3?
The DIS 50-4 has a maximum capacity of 50 g and a readability of 0.0001 g, whereas the DIS 100-3 has a capacity of 120 g and a readability of 0.001 g. The 50-4 model is suitable for very fine analyses requiring extremely high resolution.

Which model is more suitable for very low moisture content?
The DIS 50-4 is more suitable for very low moisture content because it offers a moisture resolution of 0.0001%.

What is the drying temperature range?
Both models operate within a temperature range of 30 °C to 175 °C with 1 °C increments.

What is the ATRO value?
The ATRO value is the percentage expression of moisture content relative to the dry mass of the sample. It is calculated as (W − D) / D × 100, where W is the initial weight and D is the dry weight after drying.

What is the difference between % moisture and ATRO?
Moisture [%] is related to the original (wet) weight of the sample, whereas ATRO [%] is related to the dry mass. Therefore, for the same sample, the ATRO value is always higher than the standard moisture percentage.

In which industries is ATRO used?
ATRO is mainly used in the wood and paper industry, biomass evaluation, construction materials, and the chemical industry, where moisture must be expressed relative to absolutely dry material.

Can the device be connected to a PC?
Yes, both models are equipped with RS-232 and USB-Device interfaces for data transfer.

What is the stabilization time?
The DIS 50-4 has a stabilization time of approximately 4 seconds, while the DIS 100-3 has approximately 3 seconds.

Is accredited calibration available?
Yes, accredited mass calibration and temperature calibration with an issued calibration certificate are available for both models.

How many results can be stored in memory?
The internal memory allows storage of up to 1,000 measurement results.
