Measurement of temperature and humidity in historic buildings

Museums, galleries, castles, palaces, archives, depositories and other historical buildings and spaces.
Monitoring the temperature, humidity and dew point in the often large spaces of historic buildings can be difficult to solve simply. If you need to monitor temperatures in different parts of the building and have an up-to-date overview of all measured points in one place, a comprehensive measurement system is required.
The installation of this system must also usually not disrupt the structure of these buildings in any way by installing cabling and the like. Even today's almost omnipresent WiFi networks are not always accessible or are difficult to spread in buildings with massive stone walls.
It's simple and clever:
- Without the need to install cables and without interfering with building structures.
- You just place the sensor at the measuring point.
- You can see the measured data from anywhere from a computer or mobile phone with internet connection.
- Complete record and analysis of measured data.
- Setting alarms when set limits are exceeded.
The simplest solution is the first priority
Completely simple installation and complete wireless connectivity can be ensured with the W3810 devices from the Czech producer Comet system s.r.o., which communicate via radio signal in the Sigfox network.
- Completely wireless
- Internal battery power
- IoT communication ensures access to measurements from anywhere
- you can do the installation yourself
All wireless sensors can be found in the Sigfox Comet Thermometers category
The radio signal is almost everywhere
Coverage of the Sigfox radio network, which the sensors use to communicate, is almost everywhere. You can easily see for yourself on the Sigfox coverage map, where you can simply enter your address and immediately see the signal quality.
Measurements underground in cellars and catacombs can affect signal quality. Sometimes even too thick masonry can reduce signal quality in some situations. If you are not sure, we can measure the signal quality for you personally. We will arrive at the measurement site and use a tester to test whether the signal is satisfactory. If necessary, the signal can be boosted with a BTS station to increase the signal throughout the building.

Measurement of inaccessible places
Castles, ruins and remote historic buildings are often located in places where there is no WiFi signal, wired connection or power. For these purposes, Comet Sigfox thermometers are the ideal choice. Apart from the initial installation at the measurement site, you don't even have to go to the gauge. You set up the IoT thermometers directly on the internet-connected device in your office or even at home during home office. You can easily set up the sensor directly in the Comet Cloud interface.
You can administer distantly:
- current measurement data
- historical record displayed in a graph or table
- settings of individual channels and measurement intervals
- you can also set alarms that are activated when your preset values are exceeded
- you can also edit and set up user accounts

Temperature, humidity and dew point in depositories
For the archiving and storage of collections, books and files in depositories, it is necessary to monitor not only the current temperature and humidity but also the dew point as an important parameter for the correct storage conditions of materials that are sensitive to rapid changes and fluctuations in temperature.
We secure your depository with alarms
Professional sensors and loggers activate alarms when set values are exceeded. When the temperature or humidity exceeds your limit, an alarm can be activated by an audible alarm with an LED light.
You will receive an alarming email on your mobile phone or computer. You can react immediately and arrange for remediation.
Maximum security with GSM loggers
If you need secure double recording. GSM loggers ensure IoT transmission to Comet Cloud's online storage, but also store the data in internal memory. The internal memory is non-volatile, you can simply download the data using a cable and a computer.
- recording to internal memory and Comet Cloud
- data transfer via GSM module
- immediate recording and transmission of measured values
- can be used for transporting valuable materials

Sample online measurement in the museum building
We have prepared for you a "demo" simulation of how the measured locations look like. You can take a look directly on our website. It is completely non-binding.
You can see measurements of temperature, relative humidity, dew point, atmospheric pressure, carbon dioxide or an open door sensor or smoke sensor.
