CO₂ (carbon dioxide) CALIBRATION

Kalibrace CO2Calibration laboratory KALIST AKL s.r.o. performs calibration of CO₂ sensors for all common instruments for measuring carbon dioxide concentration.

CO₂ calibrations are performed in the range of 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 3000 ppm and 5000 ppm using CO₂ reference gases with documented certification of composition. The result of the calibration is a calibration certificate with the quantified deviation of the gauge.

We calibrate almost all types of instruments such as sensors, handheld instruments, dataloggers and other types of sensors. Calibration can be performed in our laboratory or at the customer's site. Calibration is performed as a comparative measurement with a reference gas of a given CO₂ concentration.

Why do CO2 sensors need to be calibrated?

  • Process safety - Measurement of carbon dioxide levels is required in a wide range of industrial processes where CO₂ is part of the production process.
  • Protection of human health - High concentrations of carbon dioxide are harmful to human health at higher concentrations. At concentrations of 1500 ppm and above, CO₂ becomes harmful to human health. It causes fatigue, headaches and drowsiness.
  • Exhaled air rate - Exhaled air contains CO₂. It is therefore often used as a gas to determine the rate of exhaled air. Carbon dioxide gauges are therefore often used as a preventative solution in enclosed spaces with large concentrations of people.
  • Enclosed space regulation - CO₂ sensors are very often used as part of controlled ventilation systems for enclosed spaces. Most often these are places with a large presence of people in public buildings.
  • Plant growth support - Sensors and regulators are part of greenhouse grow rooms where they support plant growth. Therefore, if the air is saturated with carbon dioxide, the concentration should be measured with a gauge where the instrument's deviation is known through a calibration certificate.
  • Required by the control authority - Calibration is also often required by control authorities. This may be, for example, the State Institute for Drug Control, the Regional Hygiene Stations or the State Office of the Labour Inspectorate.

Čidla CO2We calibrate almost all types of CO₂ sensors.

Calibration of carbon dioxide can be performed on most instruments which are now available on the market. However, sensors that are part of monitoring and regulation systems can also be calibrated. Some instruments are already equipped with a sensor calibration product, while others require an individual solution.

We calibrate the following types of instruments

  • CO₂ dataloggers  - with recording to internal memory
  • Manual CO₂ instruments - for quick measurement in space
  • CO₂ sensors - which are part of the monitoring system
  • CO₂ regulators - for process control in operations
  • IoT CO₂ sensors - with cloud recording
  • Home CO₂ detectors - for measurement in a common environment
  • Wireless CO₂ sensors - with recording to a central unit
  • CO₂ safety sensors - for health protection

Calibration certificate for CO₂ gauges

The calibration certificate contains all the necessary information to determine the deviation of the gauge. The calibration is performed according to the calibration procedure with the mentioned reference gases. The calibration certificate shows the value of the reference CO2 gas and the measured value on the instrument. The result is the quantified error of the gauge including the measurement uncertainty.
