Examples of our work
Only with a calibrated weight can you be sure that the given weight corresponds to the reality within the tolerance. Calibration means comparing the weight value of the tested weight with a reference weight (standard). The proof of this measurement is the calibration certificate, which indicates the deviation of the weight from its nominal value. For weights classified in OIML accuracy classes, it is possible to express compliance with the maximum deviations allowed.
Why calibrate weights?
- Reliability of measurement - Only thanks to calibration you know the exact deviation of the weight against its nominal value. So you know the exact deviation you can expect when weighing.
- We are accredited - Our laboratory is accredited by the Czech Institute for Accreditation - Certificate of Accreditation
- Wear and tear by use - Common use and handling of the weights leads to wear and tear and causes deviation. If you perform regular calibration, you will ensure reliable and accurate measurements. The calibration interval must be determined according to the method and intensity of use of the weights. The environment in which the weighing takes place may also have an influence. The most common interval for recalibration is 24 months. Often, however, the interval is fixed, for example by company regulations.
- Compliance with regulations - Calibration of weights is often conditioned by internal rules and regulations in the structure of the company or institution.
- Cost savings - Because calibrated weights are the most commonly used in production and checkweighing, you can save a substantial amount of costs, for example in materials used, by calibrating early.
What weights we calibrate?
Our Calibration Laboratory KALIST AKL s.r.o. is accredited for calibration of all types of weights from 1 mg to 60 kg. We are also prepared for atypical designs of weights, for example those used in production. So we can also calibrate specific weights adapted for loads of non-standard structures, machines and gauges.
We commonly calibrate these types of weights:
- F1 weights - Weights for analytical and precision scales of accuracy class I / II ≤ 100 000 (e)
- F2 weights - Weights for precision scales of accuracy class II ≤ 30 000 (e)
- M1 weights - Weights for common industrial and commercial scales of accuracy class III ≤ 10 000 (e)
- M2 weights - Common weights for commercial and industrial use
- M3 weights - This is a class where the tolerance is larger and can be used on common mechanical and electronic scales
- OIML - Weights which comply with the International Organization for Legal Metrology with the ability to express compliance with the maximum deviation allowed

We also calibrate atypical weights that are part of industrial machines or as part of machines used for testing or certification.

Standards used for calibration
The calibration of the weights is carried out by a comparative method using sample standard weights of the same weight. For this purpose, we use sets of standards which are calibrated regularly.
With these standards we are able to calibrate weights from 1 mg to 60 kg. These standard sets are placed in boxes and cases to prevent damage during transport.
The standards are regularly calibrated to meet the required measurement accuracy.

Weight adjustment
Upon agreement, it is possible to adjust the weights to the required value, or we can also provide the production of weights according to the customer's drawing documentation with weighing to the required conventional weight.
This option will be especially welcomed by customers in production with specific requirements for the weight and design of weights.
