How to set up the TFA.me monitoring system
Simple instructions on how to set up the TFA.me wireless system. In the manual you will find in six points how to proceed with the power on, connectivity and communication settings. Everything is simple and intuitive and virtually anyone can handle the setup. All you need is a basic knowledge of your WiFi network connection.
If you have any questions, please contact us using the contact form at the bottom of the page.
You will need:
- WiFi coverage with 2.4Ghz internet
- Password for your WiFi network
- A device that supports TFA.me
-
Commissioning the gateway/station and integrating it into your local network
Step 1 - Commissioning:
For commissioning, you must first connect the base unit (TFA.me gateway or TFA.me weather station) to the Internet via the local WLAN network. Prepare your network password. You must then also configure your location.
First, connect the network adapter (included) to your base unit.
Open the battery compartment of the base unit and insert three new batteries (1.5 V AA) with the correct polarity. Note: The batteries act as backup batteries in case of power failure/change of location and maintain the display.
Now press and hold the GATEWAY button on the base unit for three seconds. The unit will then switch to access point mode.
Note: The GATEWAY button is normally located on the back, inside the battery compartment.
Step 2 - Establish a connection via smartphone/tablet:
During installation, disable your mobile data internet connection.
Then open the Wi-Fi settings on your smartphone/tablet and connect to the TFA.me base unit. You can tell by the network name and station ID "TFA-ME-ID-XXX-XXX-XXX". XXX XXX XXX XXX corresponds to your station's individual ID code (this ID code can also be found on the sticker on the back/bottom of your station).
Note: Smartphones/tablets often report shortly after connection that no internet connection is available via this device. This is initially unimportant and can be ignored.
Step 3 - Establish a connection to your PC:
Open the network administration and connect to the station via WLAN. You can tell by the network name and station ID "TFA-ME-ID-XXX-XXX-XXX". XXX XXX XXX XXX corresponds to the individual ID code of your station (this ID code can also be found on the sticker on the back/bottom of your station).
Note: If your station's WLAN is not displayed, refresh the list of available networks.
Step 4 - Assign the WLAN and enter the password
Once you have connected to the station directly via the network settings, please open the "me.local" page on the same device (smartphone, tablet or computer) using any internet browser. The page will open as shown in the picture..
Poznámka: Jako alternativu k „me.local“ můžete do prohlížeče zadat také IP adresu „192.168.8.1“.
Now select your network (WLAN) here, enter the corresponding password and then confirm with ENTER. After successful transmission of the network settings, a short signal tone will sound on the station. The WLAN symbol is displayed statically after the connection has been established.
IMPORTANT! Your WLAN router must support the 2.4 GHz radio standard.
For multiband routers that support 2.4 and 5 GHz, the 2.4 GHz network must be enabled.
Step 5 - Setting the location
After transferring your network settings, your smartphone, tablet or computer should automatically reconnect to your local Wi-Fi network and the internet. Now open the " go.tfa.me" page using any internet browser.
Select "Set Location" and follow the instructions to set the location of your device. Your device will then receive the correct local time. In addition to the time, TFA.me weather stations also receive the relevant weather forecast for the location you have set..

Commissioning of the transmitter
First select the desired channel on the base using the CH/Channel button, then press and hold the CH/Channel button for 3 seconds (until the beep sounds and the receive symbol for OUT flashes on the base display).
Now open the battery compartment of the transmitter and insert the appropriate batteries (recommended: alkaline batteries) with the correct polarity.
For transmitters with an external cable sensor, insert the cable sensor into the slot in the battery compartment.
Close the battery compartment again.
If you would like to use the transmitter with the TFA.me portal, keep the transmitter(s) handy for now. -
Login / Registration
If you only want to receive time and weather data from your TFA.me weather station and do not want to use your local readings online via the TFA.me portal, you have already completed the commissioning process.
If you would like to use local readings from your devices (gateway/station/transmitter) online with the TFA.me portal, you must create an account.
Registration and use of the TFA.me portal is free of charge.
-
Adding a device (gateway/station/transmitter) to the TFA.me portal
Logged in users will find the "Add Device" option in the top left navigation menu.
When you open the "Add Device" page, you can enter the 9-digit ID number of a compatible TFA.me device (gateway/station/transmitter).
The 9-digit ID number can usually be found on the label on the back of the device (in the battery compartment for transmitters).
You must also name the device.
Optionally (if needed) you can also create a group/category and assign new devices to a specific group/category.
If a device has been successfully added, it will now always appear directly in the overview.
You can now place the device in the desired location.
